Hello, Bill 5 makes me nervous. It would give cabinet power to allow the government to exempt itself from following laws on certain projects. This is too much power with little public oversight on important issues, such endangered species protection, from which there will be no going back. Read more

"The government would also have discretion to remove protected species from the list [of protected species]." This is unacceptable and invalidates the very real need for a science-based committee. The government cannot pick and choose when it respects science. Read more

I did not agree with this bill as it takes away protections for our environment and the creatures that rely upon it. It is awful that as a government provincially, we would decide to afford private corporations easier access to land at the cost of our environment. Read more

Even if people voted for your conservative party, that doesn't mean we support destroying the wildlife and our environment. Conserve literally means 'to protect and keep in state'. Not destroy, and make uninhabitable. About time the party started resembling the word it's named after.

I stand against Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. This legislation threatens Ontario’s environment and democracy. Bill 5 proposes to repeal the Endangered Species Act — one of the only tools we have to protect at-risk wildlife and the ecosystems they depend on. Read more

I oppose bill 5, I want stronger laws for endangered species and I don’t want economic zones that provide short cuts to businesses. Stop trying to advance bill 5. This hurts our natural resources!

I oppose this bill as a citizen of Ontario. It's shady and will strip several important environmental laws. It will also give companies and individuals too much power without public oversight which we unfortunately already have too much of. Read more

I am against Bill 5 because it repeals Ontario’s Endangered Species Act, overrides local authority and limits public consultation. Bill 5 endangers wildlife and democratic processes by shielding industry and developers from public scrutiny and accountability.

I strongly oppose Bill 5: the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act and its dangerous proposals, including the creation of Special Economic Zones, the weakening of Ontario’s endangered species protections, and the exemption of the Eagle’s Nest mine from an environmental review. Read more

I strongly oppose this new legislation, which not only dismantles essential protections for endangered wildlife and ecosystems, but also disregards the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous communities. This bill represents a profound failure of responsible governance. Read more
