I’m absolutely against this proposal and urge the government to withdraw it. Once a species has been eradicated from an area, it’s too late. Rushed development at all costs is not the way to proceed.
The changes are not a good idea. Species will not be protected under this legislation and this will cause environmental harm which is likely to be irreversible.
Ontario needs more housing, but gutting the Species at Risk Act is NOT the way to do it! This is a reckless and unfounded proposal and absolutely should NOT be adopted by the Ontario legislature! Please reject this senseless idea.

The Ontario government’s proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 basically guts its effectiveness to protect at-risk wildlife. The overall goal of the Act is being changed, which could shift the focus away from strong protection of species at risk.

I oppose Bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections. I oppose shortcuts for industry with no public oversight. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.
Do not make these changes. Please strengthen laws protecting endangered species and species at risk. Do not allow developers to destroy remaining habitat.
