This proposed Act should not be implemented. It is reprehensible that this government is proposing an Act which weakens the environmental and wildlife protections currently in place. The proposed Act has nothing to do with preserving the environment or protecting wildlife. Read more

This is absolutely obscene. If there was ever a time to do MORE to protect wildlife habitats, it is now. We should never be considering to do less. We have already lost 29% of our bird population over the last 50 years. Read more

These changes and the Species Conservation Act would remove “recovery” or ensuring the species is able to survive, with a stable population as a goal. The new Act is so narrow that it would virtually ensure continued decline, extinction, or extirpation. Read more

The Ford government has introduced Bill 5 a Trump-style example of government over-reach in that it mirrors exactly what Trmp has done in the US, specifically Utah, to undemine enviornmental protection so that exploitation of resources can proceed without delay. Read more

Similarly to Bill 5 changes, this amended Act and proposed changes will concentrate the power with the Minister, an elected person and not an expert. It shifts decision-making authority from expert individuals and bodies to elected officials. Read more
