The changes proposed are extremely dangerous, short-sighted and alarming. Setting things up so that developers can pay to slay species will inevitably destroy critical habitat for species, and likely make the impacts of climate change worse with eroding what little remains of our floodplains. I strongly oppose the proposed interim changes and plan to eliminate the Endangered Species Act. As a scientist and environmental advocate, I work to raise awareness about the challenges birds face and to provide meaningful opportunities for conservation action. Read more

I oppose bill 5. I oppose short cuts for industry with no public oversight. I want stronger environmental and endangered species protections. I oppose overwriting the law in special economic zones. Read more

This sounds like something from the USA. If the process of getting permits is too long and cumbersome, sort out the process - don't just get rid of it and remove the requirements to protect our species at risk. This idea should be scrapped. Read more

Absolutely not. I do not care if you think the process takes too long. Destroying irreplaceable nature for the sake of badly planned urban sprawl and making a few CEOs richer is 100% NOT the sort of protection we want from out public servants.

Our ecosystems need to be protected and our animals need to be protected. Wildlife and natural landscape is what make Canada special and livable, destroying ecosystems for the sake of profit is unthinkable and will leave us vulnerable and sick. Money doesn’t matter if the land is not livable. Read more

The proposed changes to the Environmental Protection Act are short-sighted and will only exacerbate the biodiversity crisis we are facing, rather than providing more housing. No green spaces should be developed in our province. Instead, housing should be built in areas that are already developed. Read more

I oppose Bill 5. Ontario needs stronger, not weaker, environmental protections. Endangered species deserve real safeguards, not loopholes for industry. I strongly oppose any measures that override environmental laws in special economic zones. This bill puts short term profit over long term survival.

These changes will destroy Ontario. We need to be preserving our Greenery, protecting our endangered species and allowing them to recover and flourish AND respecting the Treaty and Indigenous land

Please stop Bill 5. It guts our environmental protections, that are there to protect nature! A healthy environment equals a healthy economy and people. There is absolutely no need for Bill 5. This is not about protecting Ontario, it’s about making developers rich. Read more
