It strikes me odd that a society, Canada, that is placing restrictions on multitudes of processes to limit discharges, effluents and climate changing activities has working within it a provincial segment as a regulating body willing to increase the toxic load on our environment. Read more

As a lifelong resident of the Sault Ste Marie and Goulais River area I am vehemently opposed to such a development. All efforts should be made to preserve the Goulais River ecosystem. Dumping “treated” sewage into this old and beautiful river is unacceptable. Read more

I am a land owner in Goulais. I am shocked that you would consider dumping sewage in th Goulais River which is a natural environment for many animals. It also provides the opportunity for family recreation activities . We ar supposed to protect nature in Canada. Do not ruin such a beautiful place. Read more

I am submitting this comment to highlight the importance of the Provincial Water Quality Objective (PWQO) for Total Phosphorus (TP) and to outline the implications of TP concentrations that meet or exceed this threshold in the Goulais River. Read more

Please do not let this development proceed. We do not need sewage being discharged into the Goulais River. Your own studies support this view. The phosphorus levels in the river are already above acceptable levels as indicated by the Ontario regulations. Read more

A water treatment plant will not help the ski hill succeed. The owner has no intentions of making this place successful or he would be listening to the community. If he wants a treatment plant. Then blow the water on the hill. ALL YEAR ROUND. Read more

The Goulais River is one of the cleanest, most important rivers in our region. It supports fish, wildlife, and recreation and is already showing signs of stress. The ACS monitoring data shows: ➡️ Phosphorus levels downstream already exceed provincial water quality objectives Read more

As a resident who lives on the Goulais River downstream of Searchmont Resort, I am concerned about whether the Assimilative Capacity Study adequately considered the existing Permit to Take Water. Reference ERO Posting: 019‑6965. Read more

It's come to my attention that the assimilative capacity study is not accurate. It does not reflect on the existing permit for the searchmont resort to use huge amounts of water from the river for its operations. See reference ERO posting 019-6965. Read more

In that (Searchmont) has been producing artificial snow, where the run-off contributes to (already elevated) phosphorus levels in the river where 25% of samples collected (current ACS) as per PWQO clearly indicate that they are well above acceptable levels ALREADY Read more

I believe stats are not adequate. The fact that stats are based on water from above extraction site and above disposal site. How come it has not taken into account the tons of water extracted by the resort for operations and snow making. Read more
