Merging Lakehead Region Conservation Authority with other authorities in southern Ontario doesn’t feel proper. Thunder Bay doesn’t have the same concerns as areas in the south.

I Silvio Di Gregorio, resident of the city of thunder bay am opposed to the province's proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the "Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority".

I do not support this proposal at all. I'm an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, so I have had the opportunity to experience the work of most conservation authorities in Ontario in my over 30 years of living in this province.

The major issue suggested as reason for moving to the new structure is to improve the permitting process. Why can't the exiting 36 authorities work together to standardize and accelerate the permitting process?

I agree with HCA’s position. Local is best! Merging causes dissolution of local knowledge, support and expertise. HCA governs with excellence so why disrupt this? Re-inventing the wheel is a proven loss!

We need to stop Mr. Ford from eating away at our wetlands, water ways and farmlands for the financial benefit to his friends and himself in order to build and line their pockets at the cost of our future.
