I agree with HCA's submission to the ERO. Losing local decision making authority is unconscionable and will lead to irresponsible and harmful results in regards to land conservation, and the well-being of all those who live within these areas.

Why change the conservation authorities when they are financed by themselves? If it is for cost savings I don't buy it. If it is for efficiency I don,t buy it!!!
The proposed creation of the Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency is illegal. It completely overlooks prior agreements made between municipalities in any given conservation authority jurisdiction to form a conservation authority.

OSPE supports the government’s goal of improving efficiency and consistency within Ontario’s conservation authority system. However, the role and power of conservation authorities in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development must not be diminished.

We are a massive geographic area, this is insanely lazy and cheap. At best this is a misguided attempt to save money, and at worst it's a shallow vicious attempt to add static and confusion to environmental protection in the face of potentially damaging developments.

SDG has significant concerns that these regional conservation authorities will be too large and the partnerships that conservation authorities have with local municipalities to enhance local service delivery in SDG will be lost with a larger organization.

A single 'conservation' authority stretching from Guelph/K/W to Sarnia to Windsor to Six Nations?
An absolutely ludicrous idea that waters down the important work that the individual conservation authorities around the province currently do.

The conservation authorities are an important municipal level institution, with unique character and local knowledge. This amalgamation would strip away much of that uniqueness and power in the name of making them more efficient, even though their response rate is already fairly fast.

As an Ontario resident and taxpayer I am vehemently opposed to this proposal. Conservation Authorities must remain well funded and local-focused. Their current catchment areas are already massive.

I support the position of the Hamilton Conservation Authority: local oversight matters, and the many reasons for this have already been articulately stated by staff at the HCA.

I would like to see regional oversight continue rather than it all become provincial. The people living in the watersheds should determine what happens in them not somebody remote including continued development of meaningful relationships with indigenous people still living in the area.
