We've seen the affects from other agencies that have amalgamated and the decline of care and structure. The smaller conservation authorities that are currently in control of there parks are locals that appreciate and want to see the parks flourish. Read more

I do not agree with the provincial proposal. I believe decisions about how our lands are used and cared for need to remain grounded in local priorities and I fear that a provincial organization will over-ride local concerns. Read more

I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. The land is intimately connected to the people who live on it. I am connected to the HCA in a ways that someone from Niagara are not. Read more

I do not support Bill 68 or the proposal to amalgamate Ontario’s 36 Conservation Authorities into just 7 regional bodies. This change risks weakening the local voices, programs, expertise, and identity that communities have relied on for decades. Read more

I live in Hamilton. I have been an annual conservation authority pass holder since I moved here. I think this proposal is a huge mistake. If we lose local decision-making, we will lose local engagement. I'm less likely to donate to an organization with a broader mandate. Read more

I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO (ERO #025-1257). I believe that conservation decisions should be made by a more local CA, as they best understand the challenges and strengths in the community, and how best to utilize resources.

I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. Our family has enjoyed conservation across the province and don’t believe such a merger is needed.

Being a resident of Hamilton I want to know that my conservation areas are being taken care of by the HCA because they know the region and people it serves. I do not believe a larger conservation area from Niagara to Peel will fund he Hamilton conservation areas appropriately or take care of them. Read more

I am not behind this at all. A bigger region means more will slip through the cracks. Not all areas in that region are relatable and will be painted with the same brush as the ones that are most popular, not ensuring that all parks are important. Read more
