The latest act of buffoonery from Ford's government to merge conservation authorities across the province is such a blatantly bad idea. There is NO WAY that the new plan can have a positive environmental impact to conservation lands. The land coverage planned is too large to be properly managed. Read more

Merging of the conservation authorities seems like a costly and pointless activity, which I am are will be presented as an efficiency but will ultimately cause years of issues. How is this going to be funded? If I live in Niagara, will people in Peel be included in water way decisions and planning? Read more

Please leave the conservation authorities alone. I am very concerned about the continued erosion of local democracy and the despicable dismantling of environmental protections. Despite continually weakening environmental safeguards and standards, housing is still unattainable and unaffordable. Read more

To whom it may concern I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. A merger will be counterproductive and undermine conservation efforts in Ontario. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. Read more

I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. The HCA’s submission includes many excellent examples of what can be done within the current system such as shared technology.

I am against the merger for many reasons. The HCA does a wonderful job for our community. The old saying goes" if it is not broken, why fix it" The proposed merger will cost $ and tax payers money should be allocated to more valuable ways for our community. Read more

This proposal is ludicrous with no common sense rationale. We need to make the existing structure better by: Setting clear, consistent provincial standards across all conservation authorities, and holding everyone accountable to them. Read more

The proposed notion of merging Conservation Authorities is NOT a good idea. The current system works very well. The idea that focus can be given to a specific area to provide the most necessary support is the best method of governing individual Conservation Authorities. Read more

I strongly object to the merger. I support the HCA’s submission and agree that it’s important to keep conservation efforts local. The province can offer regulatory norms without forcing a merger. Thank you.
