The Minister's Zoning Order was made based on a request from the Town of East Gwillimbury.
On July 31, 2020, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg 438/20 to permit a 192-bed long-term care home and 320-unit retirement home in the Town of Ajax.
The Minister has issued a new market-based LNA Methodology for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (2020) which supports implementation of A Place to Grow (“the Plan”). This sets out how upper- and single-tier municipalities in the Greater Golden Horseshoe will determine the amount of land they require to accommodate forecasted growth to the Plan horizon.
Amendment 1 to A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe is now in effect. The amendment includes changes to the population and employment forecasts, the horizon year for planning, and other policies to increase housing supply, create jobs, attract business investment and better align with infrastructure.
