All some developers have to do in London Ontario is threaten to appeal to the OMB and then they seem to get their way. Just take a look at the sprawling mess that is London Ontario to see how the OMB should not work.

I support this review and reform to the OMB. I don't understand why Ontario or any municipality bothers to hire City Planners if their recommendations and advice are overturned by the OMB at every opportunity.

Quite simply, I feel the OMB to be a redundant service. It rarely serves the public interest and too often overrides the democratic will of the citizenry.

RECOMMENDATION:

I have taken part in the OMB process as I was an appellant. I was with a group of residents who were appealing a zoning decision by my Municiaplity.

I was an appellant in an OMB hearing, It was VERY expensive. Unless you are with a group of people it is just too expensive to do an appeal on your own.
