Ground water is public property and a valuable public asset. Extraction of water should only be allowed for Public benefit. Townships, etc. large commercial interests should not be exploiting our public asset for profit. Going forward, no futher permits should be issued. !!

I support extending the moratorium, that's a no brainer. Whenever the government figures out how it wants to proceed, it needs to set extraction rates that aren't laughable. The former government applauded a significant jump in fees from $3.71 to $503.71. Lire davantage

The volume of ground water is decreasing in areas of Ontario in response to pumping by water bottling companies. This is leading to ground-water depletion. Some of the costs associated with this depletion include deterioration of water quality, and reduction of water in streams and lakes. Lire davantage

Not only do I think that the moratorium on permits should be extended but that there should be a permanent halt to issuing of permits for taking groundwater for bottled water. I also think the companies taking water on expired permits should be stopped. Lire davantage

My personal thought on this subject is that we should be trying to discouraging the sale of bottled water simply for the convenience of it. We should charge a lot more for our water, and our communities should be in charge and profit from the water sales if that is what they choose to do.

We should take the time to not only consider extending the moratorium for the foreseeable, but also consider the impact of continued provision of bottled water. It's baffling that people are up-in-arms about plastic straws but no one sees an issue with single-use plastic such as bottled water. Lire davantage

I believe the moratorium should be extended indefinitely until we can be assured by independent, non-industry connected research that there is enough water for community use. Lire davantage

As we all know water is a precious resource and I agree on extending the moratorium. There are many changing factors in today’s environment and we need to take the factors, and public well being and need, before company profits.

It is very important to extend the moratorium on bottled water permits! I am very concerned about our freshwater resources and that there are communities in Ontario who do not have fresh water because Nestle is taking our/their water - and for next to nothing too! Thank you. Lire davantage

There is no evidence for or benefit to allow Nestlé to pump millions of litres from our aquifers for the price they do. The moritoriam should be extended indefinitely until a posposal that has the public good in mind is submitted.

We should not only extend this, it should be permanent. We should also not be offering permits to ANY company using plastic bottles etc. We have the worlds largest supply of fresh water and we have shortages. There have been countless studies showing tap water is perfectly fine to drink. Lire davantage

We need to stop this madness. Water bottles are a major source of pollution in this country and around the world, and, except in disaster situations, completely unnecessary. Our tap water is potable, and opening the tap and filling a glass with water produces NO pollution. Lire davantage

I completely agree with extending the permit date to allow for further research -- but the permits should be stopped -- there should not be ridiculous bottled water for personal consumption -- I can see the need for communities that are having water issues (that is a whole other story) but for indiv Lire davantage
