Conservation authorities do essential work for Ontario and Ontarians. It beggars belief that you are considering reducing the remit of conservation authorities at the same time we are experiencing unprecedented flood events.

Conserving natural resources should be a mandatory program area. This should include engaging the people who live in the watershed through educational programs and stewardship initiatives.

If I understand what is in Bill 108 it sounds like Conservation Authorities will need agreements with all the municipalities to keep doing what they're doing. This sounds like a lot of unnecessary work. And what if some municipalities agree and some don't? What will happen to these programs?

I echo the following statements that have been provided and strongly urge the province to listen to those who are voicing concern over the proposed changed that will result in more flooding and less habitat (GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE).

Conservation areas and lands provide opportunities for recreation as well as long term protection of natural areas. CAs need the resources to manage these lands and provide for Ontario’s growing population.
