Wild pigs in Ontario may be controlled from the source. New legislation could be put into place for individuals who own pigs whether large scale agricultural operations, or small hobby farmers. Lire davantage

Unlike the proposal 1.6 I disagree with the fact Hunters contribute to the spread of wild boar. I have hunted wild boar in the US extensively and their avoidance of humans in certain situations is because of their intelligence, not because they are hunted. Lire davantage

As a hunter i think a possible solution is to allow hunters an open season on the wild boar population. This would reduce numbers allready estalished thereby keeping them from overpopulating. I personaly have eaten wild boar and the meat is delicious. Lire davantage

As someone who has been working on research on invasive wild pigs in Canada for eleven years now I have some experience on the topic and much interest in Ontario's strategy. Overall it is a sound plan that reflects a strong focus on science and the peer-reviewed literature. Lire davantage

Ferral hog hunting is extremely popular in the states especially from helicopters. Its a great way to introduce a whole tourism industry and raise money through taxes and permits. They cut the numbers drastically protecting farmland and livestock/native species. Lire davantage

There was a statement in the forgoing that said “...release or accidental release should be reported....” This has to be a case of “must or shall” be reported. There needs to be a legal obligation to do so, not just that you “should”. Please tighten up the wording around this! Lire davantage

It seems odd that not allowing legal hunting of these invasive pigs is not part of the control or elimination plan. Practically every species has had an issue with man and his ability to destroy or hunt them to near extinction. Lire davantage

Wild pigs are a problem around the world. They need to be controlled as they are dangerous to humans and dig and root up cultivated crops, destroying thousands of acres per year. My sister has problems with them in Hawaii! We need to do what we can to rid ourselves of wild pigs. Regards, Lire davantage

There are videos of large portable homemade catch'em alive traps on Facebook. Looks like they are made of 6" x 6" Cattle Panels from Tractor Supply. There is a one-way door in the long pen that the pigs enter to get to grain. Lire davantage

Do something similar to Texas. Allow open non-licensed/non-firearms (bows and crossbows) hunting/culling of the boars by residents of rural areas (as well as a firearms season for those who wish). In other words, treat them as pest animals the same as rats, mice, ect.

Wild pigs, once established would wreck havoc on an already stressed ecosytem, especially southern Ontario. Year round open hunting season with no bag limit would help if implemented early.

I am a farmer and I am extremely worried about these creatures destroying our crops and ruining our livelihoods. These animals will cause mass destruction on our farms. I see videos of them destroying crops from the southern states in the us and they are awful. Lire davantage

The strategy as I've read is fairly sound, logical and well written. I would strengthen the municipal responsibility as it pertains to ownership and granting same to pet owners of pigs. A detailed communications strategy is required which details individual and municipal responsibilities. Lire davantage

Allow a small games licence to harvest as many as you can shoot and use. With not limiting type of firearm. Therefore hunting turkey or deer or waterfowl. Shoot the pig that crosses your path. One less pig is better then none. Thanks

1. Gather them and farm them, they're tasty. 2. Allow hunting boar without a hunting license. 3. Erect a border wall along stretches where they're most likely the cross from the US. 4. Capture them and move them to Yukon, nwt, Nunavut for the wolves and the bears.

Open hunt for licensed hunters. Wild sows reach sexual maturity at 6 months. They can have 2 litters/yr with up to 10 piglets so at the second litter the first litter has reached sexual maturity. Due the math. Lire davantage
