The provincial government needs to reconsider the expansion of the Hamilton urban boundary. There are huge amounts of unused space within the city already. It is irresponsible to continue to grow without first utilizing our current space.

This is an overreach of the conservative government and it makes Doug Ford look even worse than he already does. Even though he may not care about the environment as a political issue, the citizens of Ontario definitely do. Lire davantage

Ontario should focus on densification of housing rather than sprawl. Force municipalities to allow different residential zoni g opportunities. For example, force municipalities to rezone for medium density housing (duplexes, triplexes, etc)

We should not be making any changes to the greenbelt, we should leave it as it is and make changes to the regulations on foreign investments and better infrastructure to allow people to come from outskirts of Toronto.

I object to this -- the Greenbelt is a valuable environmental buffer against unconstrained sprawl. The natural environment is a place for people to play and relax, and eroding its boundaries will ruin its significance and protections for sensitive animal habitats.

Why are you taking away greenspace instead of retrofitting the buildings that are sitting empty in downtown? What about affordable housing before giving more options for corporations to take houses from Canadians to line your own pockets? Lire davantage

Aside from the obvious environmental impact that paving over Greenbelt protected land poses, such as the destruction of wetlands, floodplains, and drinking water quality and quantity reduction, this also poses other concerns. Lire davantage

I do not agree with the removal or redesignation of greenbelt land, period. Yes the Paris Moraine should be added, but that should not be an excuse to demolish other areas. Lire davantage

Developing on the greenbelt is a shortsighted travesty. The irreversible decision to make more sprawl on our protected land will only continue to trash out our beautiful province. I am a civil engineering technologist and have been a lifelong supporter of the provincial conservative party. Lire davantage

The Greenbelt is important and protected land that the government PROMISED to leave untouched. To suggest that the only way to fox the housing crisis is to sell protected land and supports every single one of our lives via biodiversity is absolutely ludicrous. Lire davantage

This is a lazy, shortsighted proposal that is only a band-aid solution to a bigger problem. Taking away from the best most fertile farming land on earth, which we will need to feed ourselves in the future and have food security to build only 50 000 houses is undeniably a terrible idea. The greenbelt is a key area of the GTA. It is important for flooding control, it helps contain our urban sprawl and encourage density. Adding more housing in the greenbelt is only going to hurt the GTA: more sprawl, more traffic, less connection to nature. Lire davantage
