We are in a climate crisis — in what universe does destroying protected wet lands and disrupting entire ecosystems make sense? We are also in a housing crisis — my husband and I gross $130k and can’t afford to buy anything, we rent a shoebox and can’t save enough for a down payment. Lire davantage

Do not go ahead with any of the amendments to the Greenbelt Plan. They are environmentally destructive and not what the government should be doing. The lands should stay as protected green zones.

I do not support any removal of Greenbelt land for development, including housing. Urban sprawl is not the way forward to adding homes in Ontario. We need to add density and services to support that density in our cities. Lire davantage

The greenbelt should be left as is. There are plenty of opportunities to develop housing in existing areas without destroying important farmland. This action will be nearly impossible to reverse and is entirely unnecessary. Lire davantage

In the GTA we have a significant need for more housing supply. The way to do this is to build up not out. By developing high rise and multi-family or clustered housing types we can meet our housing needs without irrevocability destroying the best agricultural land in Canada and mother nature. Ontario’s Greenbelt protects farmland, communities, forests, wetlands and watersheds. It also preserves cultural heritage and supports recreation and tourism in Ontario’s Greater Golden Horseshoe. Lire davantage

Some of these cuts, by design, will lead to more cuts in the future. So don't think you are fooling anyone. A lot more land needs to be added if this is to be done in good faith. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose developing in the greenbelt and building more highways due to the impact on the environment and on agricultural land. Please do not open the greenbelt for development.

Map 6 for Pickering re-zoning is a very large area to take away from the greenbelt. Although I understand the need for housing, grabbing a whole section of land for any use housing seems to linear in thinking. Lire davantage

I think that opening up the Greenbelt is a terrible idea, and we should be increasing density through zoning changes rather than continuing urban sprawl into protected wetlands.

As a young Ontarian worried about our future, this is an awful idea and should not even be entertained. The greenbelt provides a continuous ecosystem of high quality/diversity lands that allow for species to move between them unimpeded. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose the implementation of the proposed amendments. Environmental resources (land) are not equivalent. It is unacceptable to consider that removing protected land from the Greenbelt can be made up for by the protection of other land in different regions. Lire davantage
