I do not support the proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and the proposal for the Species Conservation Act, 2025. I feel these changes will be extremely harmful to both the floral and fauna of Ontario.

I highly oppose bill 5. I want strong environmental protections, particularly for endangered species. This includes much more than just immediate habitation, but also migration routes and food sources. Lire davantage

Unleashing Ontario's economy cannot happen by sacrificing the environment by the dissolution of applying for permits that may threaten species and their habitats, or by allowing the possible use of Special Economic Zones which counter Indigenous sovereignty and the soul of democracy. I heavily disapprove of Bill 5. It is incredibly short sighted, ignorant, and self serving for the benefit of corporations and not the general public. Lire davantage

Developers should be mandated to replace any habitats that are damaged during development. This should not be voluntary. Their primary objective i to make money and thus won't spend more than needed. Lire davantage

The changes should be refused due to insufficient environmental protections in the proposed bill as well as the undermining of Indigenous land right in the proposals through the allowance of overriding Indigenous decision making by the provincial gorvernment.

Hello, I am writing to you because I am shocked and disgusted at the new law the province of Ontario is trying to enact in Bill 5. This new law claims to be about “protecting Ontario” when it is actually designed to do just the opposite. Lire davantage

The proposed changes to this bill are ill-advised, irresponsible and downright shameful. The PC party has no interest in protecting Ontario's natural treasures which are directly linked to our ability to live healthy and happy lives. This is a money grab for Doug Ford alone. Lire davantage

Gutting the Endangered Species Act, as proposed in Bill 5, would be a travesty with devastating and likely irreversible consequences. We need development, but we need development that follows sufficient procedures to protect our province's biodiversity. Lire davantage

I want to ask if you have genuinely ever stood outside and listened to what is around you. I’m not talking about outside in the depths of a city, though that’s nature too. But somewhere it is quiet. Lire davantage

Bill 5 gutting the Endangered Species Act will have a devastating effect on our province’s biodiversity. Even more of a concern is the disregard for process. It sets a disturbing precedent.

There is no good reason for the government to make protecting endangered species optional. This proposal allows the government to arbitrarily remove protections for endangered species or ignore scientific findings and not designate species in need of protections. Lire davantage

Politicians saying that we cannot continue with the current endangered species law while wanting to promote economic development are taking a lazy, narrow focus that extends only to the edge of their donors' wallets. The political powers are doing a tremendous disservice to future generations. Lire davantage

The proposed bill is a direct reflection of Doug Ford’s ambition to succeed at getting homes built at any cost. In this case it is the species. Last time it was the greenbelt. He plows through farm land to make highways so that more people can get jammed trying to work in Toronto. Lire davantage
