This proposal is incredibly cruel. It suggests removing a lot of protections for the habitat of rare and endangered plants and animals. We can not de extinct animals and put them in zoos. Habitat loss is forever. Lire davantage

I oppose Bill 5. I believe that environmental rules should not be ignored in order to fast track development. I believe that public consultation is a very important part of any development project. Greed should not override the environment protections. Lire davantage

As someone in the conservation field, I know that passing this bill will be catastrophic for Ontario’s wildlife and will destroy protections for species at risk. There is no scenario in which economic growth can be worth destroying the precious biodiversity of our province. Lire davantage

I do not understand how Doug Ford can condemn the actions of Donald Trump, then turn around and present Bill 5 and the eradication of protection for endangered species. It eradicates protection for all species, in fact. Lire davantage

Protect endangered species. Don’t support this bill. Build homes where there’s no endangered species. It just makes sense. Lire davantage

These proposed changes to Species Protection in Ontario are deeply flawed and clearly guided by greed and hearts of stone. No specifies protection is adequate unless it considers the species and the ecosystem as absolute priorities. Lire davantage

I am writing today to express my concerns about the recently proposed Bill 5 – Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025. As a professional biologist, avid outdoors enthusiast, and lifelong resident of Ontario, I am disturbed to see the proposed changes to Endangered Species Act, 2007. Lire davantage

If the Endangered Species Act is repealed and replaced with Species Conservation Act, 2025 it will be a disaster. It is a shell law, giving developers an easy path to harm vulnerable wildlife without strong oversight or science-based decision-making. Lire davantage

This bill should be thrown out. Doug Ford and his government may tell everyone that Canada is not for sale, but clearly Ontario is at the expense of our wildlife and environment. Lire davantage

The environment is more important than profits. Once a species is gone, there's no way of bringing it back. The only thing we need gone for good are crooked Conservative politicians who don't listen to the people that elected them. Lire davantage

I oppose bill 5. I oppose Doug Ford's continued push for short cuts for industry with no public oversight. As a citizen of this beautiful province I want stronger environmental and endangered species protections. I want this land to be respected, which bill 5 threatens. Lire davantage

Bill 5 proposes substantial weakening of existing safeguards for at-risk species and their habitats. Further, the bill reduces the role of independent, scientific experts in assessing species at risk and gives discretionary power to the Minister. Lire davantage
