I am deeply concerned about the changes to Indigenous Engagement requirements. I would like to see our government prioritize reconciliation, and this bill does not achieve that.
The Ontario Heritage Act has been a favourite target of the Government. In this round of amendments, the Government is proposing exempting properties from requirements in Part VI of the Act. The proposed change would obviate the need to undertake archaeological assessment.

Nothing in this bill will protect Ontario, if it’s not the very interests of the corporations and their partners that levied this bill through the current administration .

I object to the passage of this bill.
I object to creating Special Economic Zones which would be exempt from existing provincial and municipal laws, including the Ontario Heritage Act and the Endangered Species Act. This could lead to unchecked development and destruction of vital habitats.

I ask and beg that the Bill amendments for the Ontario Heritage Act are not passed. This bill will shatter existing relationships and attempts at reconciliation with Canadian Indigenous groups and will deeply affect the Canadian environment we love so dearly.
