I am extremely concerned by the erosion of democracy in Ontario. Decisions regarding heritage sites should not be concentrated in the hands of a few ministers. Lire davantage

I oppose this amendment. Archaeology should be a provincial priority within itself and the province should not be exempt from the heritage act. Lire davantage

I am opposed to the passage of Bill 5 as I feel it gives too much power to government, developers and corporations, while removing safeguards which are there to protect the public. It was rushed through without sufficient public education, input and debate.

No exemptions should be granted to the need for archaeological practice to take place before construction projects! This is our heritage that can be destroyed if we are careless about pushing through projects. Lire davantage

These policies were put into place to protect the indigenous lands and people and removing it will simply be going backwards. These communities deserve respect despite the “cost” it has on the government.

I do not support changing the Ontario Heritage Act to allow the Province to ignore its own rules. Archaeological Assessment requirements have been in place since the OHA was first passed in 1975. Many important sites, including burials, have been discovered and protected in the last 75 years. Lire davantage

To allow this bill to pass would irrevocably damage the efforts and headway that we as a country have made towards reconciliation and restitution for the mistakes of our past. Lire davantage
