I’m writing to express my concerns about Bill 5 and Ontario Heritage Act, Schedule 7 (Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025). The Act proposes changes that effectively would put us out of business. As an archaeologist, I know I have a weird job, so I’ll try to explain better. Lire davantage

As an archaeologist in this province for the last 12 years, I firmly disagree with the underlying notion of this Bill 5 that archaeological requirements are red tape. Good archaeology does not have to cause delays and should be viewed as an asset to any project. Lire davantage

The conscious erosion of environmental and cultural protections to facilitate quicker construction timelines is a page taken directly from the Donald Trump School of Government. These protections are not red tape, as they are being characterized. Lire davantage

I live in a community with many historical buildings, some of which have been illegally demolished by developers in the past years. These changes appear to make it easier for developers to bulldoze historical buildings, which I am not okay with. Lire davantage

I oppose the changes to Bill 5 Schedule 7. I urge you to please not pass these changes as this is a massive problem from a cultural, emotional and indigenous perspective. Additionally, this will put hardworking individuals out of work.

Opposed! Culturally significant lands deserve protection from developers. Do better and find a way to develop respectfully and effectively. Lazy legislation.

I strongly oppose Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. This legislation poses a serious threat to Ontario’s natural and human heritage, democratic processes and Indigenous rights. Lire davantage

STOP BILL 5. Premier Ford’s Bill 5 would give him and his Cabinet Trump-like powers. It would allow any person or business that he and his Cabinet choose to ignore any and every provincial or municipal law. Lire davantage
