This bill is deplorable. To strip Endangered Species protection from any species without the appropriate evidence—scientific evidence- is nothing more than a power grab.

On all fronts I am for species protection over economic growth. We need a very different kind of leadership which dates put care of the planet first. This isnt idealism. It’s sanity.
The Mandatory Recovery Plans are part of a long term vision which we need to stick to.

2)Reassign all “Special Concern” species to the protected list and maintain provincial oversight for aquatic and migratory bird species.

Please continue to protect Ontario wildlife species. Habitat destruction will affect the economic viability of the province as a place that can attract investment.
This is a tragedy of the highest order - a true betrayal of Ontarians. We don't want this. Searching through the comments on the last ERO for Bill 5, Special Economic Zones and more, the outcry is palpable.

This bill, like this government, is destroying the protections we've put in place for endangered species and for the environment in general. I'm thinking particularly of the requirement for bird-friendly glass on new buildings, which this government has trashed.

The Species Conservation Act 2025 as written is not good enough to protect species in Ontario and thus Ontario itself. The Endangered Species Act, which this is replacing, was not enough either and this is a step down.

Our planet is the only planet we have. Economy, homelessness, defence, mental health, Healthcare? At the end of the day, none of this matters if we don't have a healthy planet to support us. Take care of it.
Stripping environmental protections is absolutely criminal. As Canadians, we know better, and we should do better. This government is shameful. We cannot let this happen.
Bring back mandatory recovery plans! Species need long-term strategies, not short-term fixes.
Reinstate the Advisory Committee. We need oversight, not silence.

All Species at Risk and their habitats deserve maximum protection. These species are at risk because of human interference and there is no justification for continued destruction of habitat or killing these species.
I oppose putting economic growth ahead of species protection:
- Scientific findings shouldn’t be politically vetoed. Protect evidence-based conservation.
- Don’t narrow the definition of ‘habitat,’ recovery depends on future restoration zones.
