I oppose putting economic growth ahead of species protection! If there is no environment, there is no economy. PROTECT EVIDENCE-BASED CONSERVATION. Don't narrow the definition of 'habitat.' Reinstate the Advisory Committee. Reverse the exclusion of aquatic species and migratory birds.

I strongly disagree with rescinding this legislation that protect species at risk. Many of these species are foundstional to the environment and can not be comprimised for rammed through poorly planned extraction projects.
Seriously? Its one thing to update regulations its another to rewrite regulations to appease the politics of a party that is lining its pockets, on your backs. Grow a spine already.
-Reverse the exclusion of aquatic species & migratory birds! They deserve provincial protection too and contribute to a healthy and secure ecosystem.
-Stop the exemption of permits from public comment. Transparency is non-negotiable.

This is evil and unconscionable. We are in a climate crisis and rapidly losing the biodiversity we all rely on for survival. Perhaps Doug Ford doesn’t understand this, but all life is interconnected and we can’t afford to remove the few protections we have for our most vulnerable wildlife.

While there are lots of words in this that claim protection to species will continue, it certainly is a reduction in the actual protection and makes it very easy to exempt activities.

The Hamilton Naturalists’ Club (HNC) is submitting the following comments about the Proposed legislative and regulatory amendments to enable the Species Conservation Act, 2025. HNC has several concerns and urges the provincial government to withdraw it.
