As an archaeologist this bill is not only risking my job but also (and most importantly) threatening to cause us to loose the ability to learn about our past while destroying that past so that there is no possible way to ever learn about it. Read more

As an avid bird watcher and nature lover I feel ashamed to even have to protest this. Save our wetlands and forests for future generations. Not everything needs to be for profit.

Wholeheartedly disagree with the threat this bill poses to industries such as archaeology. With lesser requirements for permits there will be an active threat to sites that are only discovered due to construction. Read more

The Endangered Species Act does not need to be replaced! We need it now more than ever to ensure Developers go through the proper assessment process and follow the ensuing rules to protect the environment in question and the species that are supported in that environment. Bill 5 must be defeated!

I oppose bill 5. I want strong environmental protections. I oppose government fast tracking and removing obstacles that ensure species and lands are protected. Our environment and natural areas are far more important than highways or subdivisions.

I am writing to strongly oppose Bill 5: the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act and its dangerous proposals, including the creation of Special Economic Zones, the weakening of Ontario’s endangered species protections, and the exemption of the Eagle’s Nest mine from an environmental review. Bill 5 gives your government extreme new powers to ignore laws that protect the environment, public health, and Indigenous rights — without accountability. This is unacceptable. Bill 5 undermines democracy, justice and freedom. Oppose Bill 5! Read more
