I oppose bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections and the protection of endangered species. I oppose shortcuts for industry. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.
There are hardly words for how opposed I am to these changes. The proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act are nothing short of an environmental betrayal.

I disagree with the aspects of the bill that say ministers, deputy ministers and other ministry officials make decisions about species at risk. Having scientists do this is a protection put there for a reason. They know they study and assess.

The pre-existing regulations for environmental, animal and human safety exist for a reason. Respect for indigenous rights exist for a reason. It's devastating that these rights would be getting weaker from this proposed bill – a huge step backward.

I visit Provincial Parks several times a year and am very concerned about the dangers of development that reduces habitat and thereby reduces or eliminates species. This diminishes the wilderness experience aside from reducing biodiversity.
- Bill 5 undermines the democratic process and is one the worst pieces of legislation Ontario has ever seen.
- Industries will just have to register in order to operate, without clear conditions to prevent harms to species.
