This is a horrible idea. Leave it alone. We don’t need more development of out beautiful natural spaces. It’s outrageous to even propose this. Very angry

I am writing as a long-time cottage owner in the Wasaga Beach area to express my profound concern over the recent efforts to remove or weaken environmental protections within Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Read more

The Piping Plover is a tiny shorebird disguised as sand which, in birding terminology, is a habitat specialist (not a generalist), who requires very specific habitat to thrive. Suitable habitat is the primary requirement for a species to flourish and avoid decline. Read more

As a resident of Wasaga Beach, I feel it is very much a mistake for the province to sign over the designated beaches to the town. In my opinion, there is sufficient land for development, without taking over "beach" space.

C'mon, one of the hallmarks of Ontario is its beautiful nature, parks, and untouched sites. It's a wonder to be able to go out and, not only enjoy lovely trails and beaches, but to have them so close to our communities, like an escape from the metropolis to the wild. Read more

Hands off our beautiful and priceless national parks. Humanity has had enough of the greed and destruction caused by Capitalism. It is time to stop destroying what is left of mother nature and to protect it instead of linning the pockets of a few white collar criminals.

Please stop Doug Ford from endangering the environment by destroying nature with his developer friends. Wasaga beach belongs to the people not his friends!!!

Very opposed to this for so many reasons. Think about the message you are sending if you sell/buy a provincial park, turn a natural place into a development. Canada is no better than the USA.

I am staunchly against the selling off of provincial park land for land developers, both in Toronto, as is the case with Ontario Place, and with Wasaga Beach. Read more

What makes Ontario a home to so many people is having our natural history honoured and protected. That the generations after mine can continue to enjoy the beauty and community that stems from our parks and shared spaces that welcome all. Read more

I do not support this change, and I encourage all MPPs to reconsider their support. This is a short-sighted and selfish change which is not in the best interest of our province and our people. Read more

I opposed the proposed legislative amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act for several reasons: 1. This amendment sets a dangerous precedent by allowing the government to transfer lands from any park, not just Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Read more

I strongly oppose the short-sighted proposal to remove more than 50% of the shoreline of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park and give it to the town to develop. This will mean destroying the environment and habitat for endangered species like the Plover. Read more

I feel that none of the lands within Wasaga Beach Provincial Park should be turned over to the Town of Wasaga. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is a beautiful park that is accessible to so many people in the GTA. As the population of southern Ontario increases so should its parkland. Read more

Wasaga Beach is prime habitat for the critically endangered piping plover. Do not remove the beach from the provincial park. Do not pave over a critical ecosystem to make a quick buck in the name of 'development '. Read more

I am writing to ask that you withdraw this proposal to sell off public land for private land. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park was created to protect species within its boundaries. Opening it to private operators will leave the species that were once protected vulnerable. Read more
