Provincial parks belong to the people and should not be used for the profit of the few. By removing provincial park lands the conservative government is further endangering the environment and animals.
As a resident of Wasaga Beach, this is devastating news. Please conserve our rare, unique beach and keep it open and accessible for all generations to come. All Canadians should be able to enjoy these public areas.
DF, keep your hands off Wasaga Beach — this land holds deep meaning for countless families like mine, with roots in Wasaga and Collingwood, and it should never be sold off to your friends for profit.
Do not sell this land!!!! The endangered piping plover calls this area home. Nobody in Ontario wants to see this land being turned into human infrastructure. Keep it natural!!!!!
I am commenting to oppose this proposal. What the GTA needs more of are nature reserves. Too many precious areas have been taken for development. These areas provide a home for wild life and a place of peace for visitors.
I'm concerned about the protection and management of important Piping Plover habitat at Wasaga Beach. The Piping Plover is classified as an endangered species in Ontario under both the federal Species at Risk Act and the provincial Endangered Species Act, 2007.

Please consider joining forces with Birds Canada and the Ontario government to protect the endangered piping plover that breed in your area. Not only for the birds, but for the benefit to your community showing tourists that you are an eco-tourism hot spot to visit.
The natural breeding habitats of Piping Plovers are essential to their continuation as a species- and they ONLY have environmental protection if the land is federally owned.

Please do not allow the nesting sites of piping plovers to be transferred to the town of Wasaga Beach, where there will no longer be legal protection for this endangered species, that is only recently beginning to recover.
Piping Plovers must be conserved and protected. Put your trust in Birds Canada, as the experts, to continue their legacy of being forerunners in helping the Plovers to survive and thrive.
