I am writing to express strong opposition to the Town of Wasaga’s proposal to convert parts of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park for "tourism enhancement" purposes. Read more

Is there any natural space in Ontario that Doug Ford isn’t willing to sell at this point? It’s shameful that we constantly have to voice opposition to public lands being sold to the highest bidder, when there are so many more important things that we could be addressing.

This is unacceptable that natural land that should be preserved for use by all is being pushed into the hands of for-profit development in the name of tourism and generating revenue. Natural lands should be prioritized to stay natural for current and future generations. Read more

As an Ontario resident, like many, I have enjoyed the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park space many times. How would the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming protect this natural space better than the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks? Read more

Provincial park land should never be part of any development plans unless it is to expand the park to accommodate more campers, hikers and paddlers.

The town seriously mismanages their money, by-law act like the police, the police are in by-laws pocket. What happened to all the additional spending that went into the new community centre, far above the quoted price. Read more

Keep Nancy Island a part of the provincial parks! We should be expanding protected land, not reducing it!!

Please do not sell public assets to private corporations or for development. There is such limited access for people to access the outdoors and the lakes it is important that we protect it. There is a need to preserve green spaces and the habitats for numerous species. Read more

I think developing Wasaga is a great idea as long as it is done in a sustainable and environmentally safe way. I think the beaches need to remain public with access for anyone to you. A little nostalgic here but I remember the Wasaga of the late 70's and it had such an amazing vibe. Read more

This proposal is grossly unacceptable. The current habitat needs to be left as is given the significant piping plover habitat that exists in the area. Read more

I have lived in the area for over 20 years, and I’m deeply disappointed by the decision to convert our precious parkland into developmental land. Read more

Why would you remove such a staple and iconic Wasaga Beach pier? It has brought us so many memories, and with this new proposal, many people will not and cannot enjoy the area anymore.

Protected land should never be developed. It has been protected for a reason! Proposing legislative amendments seems like betrayal in the name of tourism. There is a lot of land available for development all around the protected areas and this should be investigated more. Read more

Provincial Parks belong to the people of Ontario and are meant to be protected forever. It is appalling that the current government is trying to give away big parts of our most popular park and make it easy to give more park land away in the future. Read more

Our public parks are few and far between as is waterfront. But the main reason is more to save the plover bird which is near extinction. Leave our parks alone for future generations to enjoy!

I think the idea of giving the provincial park land listed to the town of Wasaga beach is ridiculous. Our current mayor seems to be just forging ahead with his plans without much public input. Read more

I do not support this sale of conserved land. Part of what makes this province so great is the abundance of protected land that is available to everyone and future generations. Read more

Please do not sell off our beautiful and protected lands. Ford - you have done enough damage to education and the Golden Horseshoe. Leave Wasaga alone!
