The 2022 plan that was approved by council and had community input is the development that should be going on the Janesville site. The new proposal that the MZO would force through includes a 20 story tower which is too high for the area. Read more

I live in Hamilton and have ridden past Jamesville housing site many times. As housing already existed there, CN Railway should have no complaints regarding housing that close to their switching yard. Hamilton needs the housing, especially the low income housing that is included in the project. Read more

This housing complex should not be left sitting in ruins in the middle of our neighbourhood. It should be made into housing as soon as possible. As someone who lives a block away, CN should not be able to block housing being built there, as there is an entire neighbourhood surrounding it. Read more

As a 20 year resident on Simcoe St W, I have watched the demise of Jamesville. As it sits empty with so many unhoused citizens, many of us welcomed the original plan of stacked townhouses and mixed income housing and, of course, Indwell's housing complex. Read more

To the Honorable Paul Calandra, As a resident who lives within 1 block of this site, I am strongly opposed to MZO request the Mayor is proposing. Development is needed, but not a development that has not been subject to proper planning process. Read more

I respectfully ask you not approve the Mayor's MZO request. The council voted on a plan with very few details worked out, other than increasing density. If they have done studies regarding community impact, they have not produced them. Read more

The proposed MZO contemplates approval of a development that is inconsistent with previous plans for developing this site and ignores past community consultations. These amendments were not shared with the community prior to submission of the MZO so local stakeholder buy-in is currently limited. Read more
