I wish to voice my strongest support for the MZO that the City of Hamilton has requested to enable the development of housing in Jamesville. Given the depth of the housing crisis in Hamilton, it is absurd that this land cannot be freed up for the building of much needed new housing.

The ratio of for-profit to low income is too high. It should be at least equal, not half as the proposal calls for. I also see no Indwell involvement, are they involved?
The project of redesign and development must start immediately. The current situation is an eyesore, an embarrassment and should be remedied long long time ago.

The Janesville property needs to be urgently redeveloped and restored as a key and necessary housing opportunity for the community of downtown Hamilton. It was previously a thriving affordable city housing community.

The Jamesville site has remained undeveloped since I moved to Hamilton in 2019. As a city like many others in Canada, whose houseless population is growing, it is heartbreaking to witness available property sit untouched.
