I agree with Hamilton Conservation Authority’s submission to the ERO. I am very concerned and angered about losing local decision-making and I strongly support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community.
Having volunteered with our local Conservation Authority and having grandchildren who have worked with our local Authority, I am most vigorously opposed to the proposed amalgamation of our Provincial Conservation Authorities.

Conservation work should stay with local authorities so that they can more directly work with the local environment and citezens for local solutions. This is a bad idea that will make the experienc work for communities and the environment and should not be enacted.
This proposed change to our Conversation authorities would result in irresponsible governing of our most precious natural resources. As systems grow, it becomes harder to protect local priorities and ensure local voices remain central to future decisions.

I am very satisfied with the hamilton region conservation Authority as it stands. I can see huge costs to the taxpayer I amalgamation. There are many aspects of operation that could be combined for economies of scale such as purchasing. Equipment, consultants and even calendars come to mind.

The current boundaries for Conservation Authorities are sufficient. We need CA's to protect our environment and should continue to invest in such activities. Allocating resources to water and environmental protection is something that should be a priority for any government.
