This seems like a story about efficiency and cost savings, but at what cost? I am aware there are dozens of people within this area that are on the sunshine list, with most being in high population areas like Toronto. Read more

Rolling up our local Dundas/Hamilton conservation area into a regional conservation authority would water down the protection it gets. Dundas has its own wildlife, ecosystem and challenges that need local knowledge and hands-on care. Read more

Our local conservation area shouldn’t be swallowed up by a larger one. Local management means faster action, stronger accountability, and better protection for the wildlife that depends on it. Making it bigger doesn’t make it better — it just makes the care less personal and less effective.

The ever-expanding list of permits, approvals, studies, and surveys-many of them duplicating municipal or provincial processes-suggests that the Authority's regulatory reach has grown beyond its original mandate. Ontario is the only province with a Conservation Authority. We DO NOT need them.
