The current Conservation Areas in Ontario have been in existence for over 50 years. While not perfect, they provide a necessary service to protect the citizens of Ontario through watershed management and source water protection. Read more

I am against the changes proposed to reduce the number of conservation authorities in my area. I've worked with my local CA on tree planting and flood reduction and do not want to see my services cut nor lose local representation.

Based on the language used in the proposal I have serious concerns about how CA's will operate across wide geographic areas after consolidation/amalgamation. As it is right now CA's are understaffed, an inspector might need to drive a few hundred kilometers in a day in order to perform site visits. Read more

Conservation authorities work so hard at protecting the environment at a community level and consolidating these agencies will only create a disconnect between authorities and communities and have a huge negative impact on species that are found in smaller regions! REPEAL BILL 68

I am against this proposal. Ontario's current watershed management approach is envied by the world. We are a global leader. Why diminish our reputation during such a critical time in world geopolitics? Read more

As a citizen of Ontario I strongly disagree with this positional. Our conservation authorities are the backbones of our communities and provide value able services to each and every one of us. Read more

Hello, I am against the legislation as proposed. I do not believe that conservation authorities should be amalgamated. I think having conservation authorities follow their local watersheds, as they currently do, will lead to better conservation outcomes. Read more

This is a case where it is more appropriate to have fewer districts. Consolidation will lead to local issues being ignored or overlooked, and will end up either reducing actual outcomes or generating more levels of bureaucracy to coordinate. Conservationists are opposed to this for good reason. Read more

The proposed changes to the Conservation Authorities Act and the amalgamation of Ontario's 36 Conservation Authorities into only 7 will have catastrophic impacts for both residents and ecosystems alike. Read more

This is a ridiculously short sighted idea to consolidate into fewer conservation authorities. I do not support this. Each subregion of this province is unique and requires well-paid, focussed experts to understand it and navigate it.

We would be located in the proposed Huron-Superior Region. We believe the area is so large that it will minimize the efforts of the conservation work when you cannot reasonably travel across the entire area in one day. Read more
