This proposal is completely unnecessary and unacceptable!! I wouldn't trust Ford's motives or his tactics -- especially after the Greenbelt fiasco!! It's all about HIS power and influence. The environment is sacred and should be a treasured resource not a money maker for the Conservatives.

Please don’t consolidate these conservation authorities! With extreme weather more and more common we need ‘local’ experience and expertise more than ever!
Merging CA’s is a terrible idea. For example, the amalgamation of municipalities not only caused many areas to lose their identity but also allowed funds to be reallocated to other areas for which they should not.

The Conservation authorities were created by, and for, specific areas because of the geography, the interest, the needs and the expertise of people in those areas.

I am writing to express my serious concerns about the proposal to restructure Ontario’s current Conservation Authority framework into 7 larger regions. I do not feel the Province has provided just reason for this proposal nor is the use of political appointees responsible governance.

This is a terrible idea that will erode environmental protection, allow building in protected areas (hazard lands, floodplains, wetlands) without oversight, put money into the pockets of builders and destroy a system that works perfectly well on a watershed basis.

I do not believe that Ontario's conservation authorities should consolidate. The proposal states that the current 31 conservation authorities are fragmented; each following different policies and standards.

All politics is local...and proper management of watershed, flood plains, and safe drinking water is also local. Please do not amalgamate the CAs! Local knowledge of places, people, parks, and regional professionals is important for CA staff.

Deficiency and economics cannot be the only criteria for decision-making. I hardly object to the amalgamation of conservation authorities. Local authorities will be able to respond faster in the event of an emergency, will be able to provide more focussed preventative measures.
