I am against this proposal. Ontario's current watershed management approach is envied by the world. We are a global leader. Why diminish our reputation during such a critical time in world geopolitics? Read more

I’m concerned about the amalgamation of Grand River Conservation Authority with other Ontario conservation authorities. I believe there has been significant work locally to ensure the best interest of the local ecology and I don’t believe a larger entity will do as good a job with each local area. Read more

I am writing to oppose the proposal to consolidate consolidate Ontario’s existing thirty six Conservation Authorities into seven large regional bodies and create a new Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency to provide “centralized leadership” and oversight. Read more

I understand the need for standardized approaches by conservation authorities to development. The government of Ontario should work closely with each conservation authority to ensure that the criteria being examined is consistent. However, I do not see value in creating larger authorities. As a resident of Dundas and owner of property backing onto the Dundas Valley Conservation Area, I strongly oppose the amalgamation of the HCA, as one of 36 conservation authorities with distinct watersheds, into seven “mega authorities”. Read more

I am vehemently in opposition to Ford’s plan to consolidate our current 36 conservation authorities into only 7 regional bodies. We do not need “shovels in the ground faster”, as stated in the Ford government’s official press release. Read more

Each of the watershed conservations areas being proposed are from different tributaries and that will not work. Much importance is needed to keep our waters clean. This proposal just muddies everything. There are better ways to save money like not doing the Bradford Bypass on healthy land.

I respectfully recommend that the 36 existing conservation reserves not be consolidated. Please continue to engage with Indigenous and local communities and manage watersheds using local knowledge and management skills. Please do not proceed with consolidation.
