Going forward with this proposal would be a terrible shame. We visit local conservation areas almost every weekend year round to hike with our dogs. They are well maintained with excellent staff and programs and information based on the local area, the LOCAL area. Read more

I oppose the change to the current conservation authority management areas in Northern Ontario. The intention of aligning with water sheds is not valid as these areas are in different watersheds. The vast geography of Northern Ontario means there will be less local representation. Read more

Combining the conservation authorities might look like it’ll save money, but it won’t save money long term. After different areas get flooded out, or have even lower tree cover, further environmental disaster is going to come. Read more

In 2019 I had colon cancer and as part to my recovery I became a participant in a study to determine if regular exercise (hiking) would reduce the risk of a second incident of colon cancer. I think reducing the number of conservation authority from 36 to 7 is not a good Idea. Look at the local government that have amalgamatted. It does not run as efficiently or effectively as the smaller municipality once did. Each area is unique to their environment. Read more

While the proposal to centralize authority appears logical on paper, the individual conservation authorities should be allowed to continue with their work on a local level. Conservation authorities work best when decisions are made close to the land and the people affected. Read more
