I strongly oppose this proposal to consolidate the jurisdictions of the 36 conservation authorities and add a provincial oversight agency. Conservation authorities are local entities that should remain at the local level, not watered down to a more regional level with provincial control. Read more

I am alarmed by the proposed changes to Conservation authorities. The present arrangement of smaller authorities works well. They serve residents within their watersheds and their offices are readily accessible to those residents. Read more

I am a resident of Hamilton, Ontario, and I am against consolidating Ontario's conservation authorities. I agree wholeheartedly with the Hamilton Conservation Authority's submission to the ERO. Read more

I would like to state that Conservation Authorities are incredibly efficient at what they do and any consolidation risks undermining this effectiveness and, in my opinion, creating a system that is more costly to the tax payer while delivering less. Read more

I am writing to express my serious concerns about the proposal to restructure Ontario’s current Conservation Authority framework into 7 larger regions. I do not feel the Province has provided just reason for this proposal nor is the use of political appointees responsible governance. Read more

The areas are too large to effectively let manage local needs. We have seen this before. The supposed economies of scale fail to produce the efficiencies. Additionally, at the end of the day local is what matters. Read more

The question any Ontarian should ask themselves: who does this proposal serve? If the answer is not the public interest, then it is a proposal bought and paid for. Terrific undoing of 35 years of progressive planning policy and conservation efforts. Read more

I find the proposal to combine existing water conservation authorities to be ill-advised and unwise. Conserving natural resources, including water, is a complicated process and best left to local authorities. Read more

From a conservative voters stance I would argue that some of this make sense. Aligning values, standards, requirements make sense. From someone who has voted conservative in the past and aligns with a lot of values, this act makes no sense. Many of the proposed alignments are bizarre. Read more

Regional conservation authorities do critical work protecting watersheds and and local ecosystems. This proposal is a thinly-veiled attempt to fork over more of our beautiful, natural land to greedy developers. We don't need more urban sprawl, and this most certainly won't create any more "jobs". I do NOT support this reduction . I see it as a one more way to circumvent environmental laws for the Premier and his developer buddies. Please keep things at a more local level. Local people understand their needs and wishes!!!! Read more
