I am contacting you representing the Ruffed Grouse Society of Canada's North Shore Chapter. Our chapter has been in existence more than 35 years and has been working with the Long Point Region Conservation Authority to enhance early successional habitat for ruffed grouse and other forest wildlife. I disagree with this proposal. Consolidating all these agencies into just 7 doesn’t seem like a good idea. Each region has its own unique species of flora and fauna not to mention complex micro ecosystems. Therefore it doesn’t seem efficient to lump all of these agencies into a broader umbrella. I have comments and concerns with this plan, as opposed to support for the discussion points. Trying to consolidate our conservation authorities into regions sounds like it’d pose a risk of jobs to the workers currently in each authority. Read more

It is a mistake to consolidate the Ontario conservation authorities, we need them in order to protect our ecosystems. We need to maintain these places for endangered species that have an effect on all of us in ways that we do not always see. Read more

Disagree with this merger. Bigger isn’t better. To include many areas into larger conservation areas will leave our communities without support and what is the best fit for our area. The environment, wildlife are the losers. Disappointed but not surprised this is happening. Regards, Linda Read more

If the Ford government makes these changes to the legislation, I will no longer vote conservative provincially. Conservation matters need to remain hyper local. This will negatively affect my hunting, and the game populations. Reduce the Size of the Proposed Region – Read more

I do not support the proposed consolidation of conservation authorities in Ontario. I think this is a short sighted proposal that if implemented will result in less responsive service and support to the people and regions of Ontario and greater risk under a changing climate. Read more

Conservation authorities require local reps with local knowledge, experience and succession. Anything less and you'll see significant rebuttal from adjacent property owners over the next few years (in addition to sacrificing unique habitat).

As a lifelong citizen of Northwestern Ontario, I wish to express my strong opposition to the Ontario government’s proposed amalgamation of conservation authorities under ERO Posting #025-1257, particularly the plan to consolidate the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority into a much larger Huron–Su Read more

To begin, I fully and completely reject the amalgamation or consolidation of the 36 Conservation Authorities. All issues that may arise can be addressed within the current framework that is set up by the Conservation Authorities Act and with 36 Conservation Authorities. Read more

This act is scary... if someone deems the land for use for building, it wipes out Southern Ontario. My family enjoys our time, and the employees feel like family at the park. We pay our increased dues for the trailer, knowing that we are using protected land that is well cared for. Read more
