The proposed regional conservation areas are enormous, and can’t feasibly take into account local expertise on such a large scale. This will have a detrimental effect on local wild life and aquatic habitats and I sincerely hope this proposal is not successful.
I am highly concerned about the proposed merger of clusters of Conservation Authorities and I hope very much that it does not go ahead. I am a frequent recreational user of Conservation Areas in the Kingston region.

The intentions of this proposal do not feel like the focus is on conservation. The individualism of the conservation areas allows for a tailored approach and speciality knowledge of what the area needs. We need to protect those areas, not make it easier for developments to be built in or near them.

As someone who has lived in the Lake Huron and Lake Superior portions of this merger, I think it's crazy to combine such vastly different geographical areas.
I urge the government to not proceed with the consolidation of the conservation authorities.
In my opinion, it seems to me that the province is most interested in speeding up permitting in Ontario and expanding development pathways by centralizing the permitting process and putting it online.

My father is a military veteran and he walks all the time for his PTSD. Conservation authorities ensure he has nicely maintained trails to walk all the time. They preserve the wildlife and ensure we can enjoy the outdoors with no complications. They are truly essential for people’s mental health.
