Centralizing services never works well - no one's voice can be heard and there are too many differing agendas to get anything meaningful accomplished Therefore no cost savings just confusion and poor services Read more

As a resident of the City of Thunder Bay, am OPPOSED to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”. Read more

I am totally against the consolidation of the local conservation authorities. Each community knows what is best for the local ecosystem and is well placed to observe conditions locally. Premier Ford will lose my vote in the next election if this consolidation plan is put into effect.

This is another classic Ford Government move to “fix” things that are not broken. I lived through the Harris government days to “create” a non-existent crisis in education in the 1990’s. What a fiasco that was. Read more

Please provide more clarity on what exactly is being merged, what expectations are in place and what are the major concerns being tackled. Hundreds of people are now being thrown in the air and are unsure of their footing and landing place. Read more

This is not a good idea. We’ve already seen the Ford/Conservatives destroying nature to gain money, this seems like another cash grab which will further destroy the environment. We need actual local people knowledgeable of their area to be in charge. Read more

The LRCA in the thunderbay district and beyond has been governing our conservation lands for over 70 years extremely competently and effectively. This area is unique to southern ontario conservation lands and has specialized wetland concerns. Read more

This is a terrible idea. Local watershed areas need to be kept small so the unique biodiversity can be maintained. Not all watersheds in a HUGE area will have the same needs. If they are viewed as one all areas will suffer greatly.

I, strongly oppose the proposed boundaries for the regional consolidation of Ontario’s Conservation Authorities. The proposed changes will erode accountability and local services, impose significant costs on taxpayers, and cause delays for landowners, builder and developers. Read more

Has this proposal been thought through or is it just another attempt by Government to consolidate services in the "hopes" of saving money. This will no doubt cost the Taxpayer more in the long run. And why would a "Lake Erie Region CA" encompass a large swath of Lake Huron. Read more

This is craziness. There is no way Southern Ontario should be deciding what happens in Northern Ontario. Our conservation area in Thunder Bay is strong and Protects our lands. It’s this kind of thing that makes me not want to vote conservative. Please stop this madness. Read more

I believe that the conservation authorities should be left as is . Reasons : If the amalgamation takes place there will be loss of local expertise and local control to make decisions specific to locations.. Reduced accountability and responsiveness . Read more
