I live in Thunder Bay. As someone who is very involved in outdoor activities, I am very familiar with the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority, the work they do, and the conservation areas that they manage. Read more

The conservation authorities were created to protect people and infrastructure. Consolidating them will lessen their ability to keep working on a localized watershed scale where the employees are familiar with their entire watershed and can make sound, informed decisions. Read more

Stop the amalgamation of conservation authorities. Local control and understanding is necessary for managing our watersheds and green spaces. These areas need protection! Regular people need access to nature and flooding would occur without proper management. Read more

It doesn’t make sense how the area west of Lake Superior would be lumped in with an area on Lake Huron. It’s close to 1000km away! I like saving money, but there’s gotta be a way that makes more sense than this.

I think this is a thinly-veiled attempt to take away vital conservation work being done in this province. I think it's an interesting choice to openly advertise that this is being done in the name of "prioritizing housing, economy and infrastucture". Read more

It’s very important that the existing LRCA continue to fully control the conservation areas in the northwest. They are the experts on our unique needs and are doing a great job. Combining our northern conservation areas with southern Ontario serves no purpose or benefit to us.

I have serious concerns about Bill 68 and the restructuring of Ontario’s Conservation Authorities. Reducing 36 Conservation Authorities down to 7 run by political appointees is not responsible governance. It will further weaken environmental protection in this province. Read more

I am not in favour of this at all. The proposal is just a bunch of gobbledygook word salad, dressed up to look important! Supposedly this proposal is to have Conservation Authorities to "better align with the province's priorities". NO! Read more

I am concerned my merging the conservation authorities into larger ones that the local nuances of each geographical area will be lost. As larger centers manage bigger areas the smaller more rural environmental area concerns will not be monitored or addressed in a timely way. Read more

please leave our environment and wildlife alone. The CAs already do so much with very little provincial support. Merging these authorities would mean less local oversight and more power for DF to do as he pleases (like with the greenbelt).
