These changes to the present Endangered Species Act are clearly designed to end any barriers from development to simply go forward with damaging projects without any guardrails or compliance. Read more

This is a terrible plan and just a cheap attempt to take away key protective laws in order to build more neighbourhoods, even from a business perspective it makes little sense given very little population is even willing to buy homes because of affordability and economic issues.

This act would destroy the environment as it erases Ontario’s Endangered Species Act to give way to construction without permits or concern. It also an attack on Indigenous and constitutional rights. This bill is appalling and cannot be passed.

I adamantly disagree with this proposal to weaken the endangered species act. This is a time when our endangered species need protection especially with how fragmented southern Ontario is, we need to maintain key areas protected by SAR. Read more

I DO NOT support Bill 5, this gives the Premier carte blanche to destroy our environment and line the pockets of his rich friends. This should be illegal, it is so underhanded. Please do not pass this Bill.

While driving from Bracebridge to Huntsville a few days ago, I saw a couple of Minister Graydon Smith's billboards proclaiming "Protect Ontario". Not quite sure what the government is trying to convey. Read more

Bill 5 should absolutely not move forward. It infringes on biodiversity and constitutional rights. It absolutely has to be stopped. Biodiversity and our constitutional rights need to be protected! This clearly only benefits developers and is not in the best interest of citizens of Ontario.

The climate emergency is at an alarming shift in the holocene and global political environmental sphere right now and if these spaces and species are not rightfully protected, we will make irreversible detrimental impacts. These interim changes need to be taken more seriously.

This Bill is an egregious overstep of provincial authority and creates the conditions for environmental damages. Not only does it reduce provincial accountability, it also gives the Premier authority to designate "economic zones" to the detriment of our environment in Ontario. Read more

Ontario's ERO Notice 025-0380 outlines proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act, replacing it with the Species Conservation Act, 2025. I argue that these changes weaken environmental protections and prioritize economic growth over conservation. Read more
