I respectfully express concerns regarding the proposed transition from the Endangered Species Act (ESA) 2007 to the Species Conservation Act 2025. The rigorous regulations and procedures outlined in the ESA 2007 are essential for safeguarding species that are at risk. Read more

I find the laziness and sheer lack of responsibility and respect apparent in this proposal abhorrent. Most Canadians understand that it takes the time it takes to ensure our greatest assets, wilderness and wildlife, remain safe and protected. Read more

Environmental Assessments are necessary and important. If the process is too slow, the obvious solution is to hire more people to do the assessments, not eliminate steps to complete the assessments or the assessments altogether. Read more

This is a horrible decision, one I would hope the government looks at and decides not to follow through. You are going to destroy the environment and biodiversity. Causing species to go extinct. This is a disgusting change to make.

This government has consistently valued corporate profits over all other considerations. Without strong environmental protections, all other forms of life are at risk including the humans who benefit from those profits. Read more

I recognize Ontario needs to do something to help our economy during this rough period but I do not agree that we should drastically reduce our protection and conservation efforts in order to do so. Read more

This will kill all remaining endangered species, combined with Donald Trumps removal of all American environmental protections. This is an unacceptable betrayal and proves that Ford is cut from Trumps cloth after all. Are we different from America or are we not?

This is short sighted and reckless. Look at what you have destroyed at Ontario Place. Eliminated habitats for wildlife and forced some like the coyotes into the city and created a danger to people, children, pets and the wildlife themselves. Read more

The Species Conservation Act is a joke and would not sufficiently cover the protection of Ontario wildlife. Saying it takes too long and is complicated is an absolute lie, I would know because I work with the ESA daily and have filled out multiple permits. Read more

Rolling back the endangered species act at a time when wildlife is in peril due to human encroachment on habitat is a grave error. The environment and wildlife need more protections than ever, not fewer.

Under the proposed new approach, instead of waiting for the ministry to approve permits, most proponents will be able to begin an activity immediately after registering. How can Species at Risk be protected if work is allowed to commence before the habitat studies have been completed? Read more
