While I can appreciate the Ford government's zeal to get Ontario moving, I cannot support the bill that repeals the ESA. I am a supporter of progress, getting shovels in the ground and make Ontario functional, but I don't believe it should be at the expense of endangered species. Read more

As an environmental scientist and engaged citizen of Ontario, I strongly oppose the proposed repeal of the Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA) and its replacement with the Species Conservation Act, 2025 (SCA). Read more

I am opposed to the changes to the endangered Species Act being proposed and will work with like-minded peers to challenge the government. We are responsible for all living creatures in our habitat and their protection should always be number one, with industry and expansion following after.

This is inhumane, unjust and completely wrong. There will be dire consequences for humans if biodiversity isn't protected, the very air we breath will turn to poison when there is nothing left to filter our pollution. People will die, and Doug Ford will be to blame. Read more

The current ESA is science based, with the aim to protect species, ecosystem, and genetic diversity. The changes proposed in this bill are not science based and look to exploit Ontario's nature in a way that goes against the "not for sale" slogan. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed repeal of the Endangered Species Act, and enactment of the new "Species Conservation Act, 2025 (SCA)". As a wildlife biologist, I am confident that the aforementioned changes to legislation will be detrimental for Ontarians and Ontario's Species at Risk. Read more

The release of these changes mentions that the existing structure does not provide significant gains for species recovery. How will these changes result in a significant gain for species recovery? Do these changes not result in significant losses to species recovery?

I strongly oppose this new legislation, which not only dismantles essential protections for endangered wildlife and ecosystems, but also disregards the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous communities. This bill represents a profound failure of responsible governance. Read more

The proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and a proposal for the Species Conservation Act, 2025 presumes to rewrite Ontario’s conservation laws to enable a rebalancing of the weight with which government must assess environmental considerations against social and economic cons Read more

I strongly object to this change in protection of endangered animals. The housing crisis is not just due to shortage of houses, the roads lack maintenance not just more of them. Empty buildings sit in every city and major roads are in disarray and mired in endless construction. Read more
