I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and the introduction of the Species Conservation Act, 2025. Read more

These proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act will cause species to do extinct. This is a disgusting abdication of responsibility by our government. When species go extinct or are extirpated they cannot be returned and are gone forever. Read more

This is a proposal that undermines the very intention behind the original 2007 Endangered Species Act. The protection of the environment and biodiversity undeniably become even more critical since then, and this proposal undermines the very notion that we are the stewards of the environment. I do not support this. There is a lack of respect towards the environment from the current government. We need to protect what we have or we will lose it. Stop this madness!!!

Without a single doubt in my mind this will be abused. In a land of cars and parking lots, the only thing Ford can think of is more roads and sprawl. Absolutely asinine, what's wrong with Conservatives?; Why the are you speed running humanity to extinction? Read more

The government should not have unilateral ability to change the protections act. Most of this is understandable with a population boom and the need to expand, but you added a line. That means you can remove the protections of other animals. Read more

This is bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. These proposed changes are an embarrassment and will make Ontario a worse place to live, create a space nobody wants to invest in except Ford's existing washed-up business partners, and cement the Ford government's negative place in history textbooks. Read more

I think this is a poorly reasoned argument to get rid of important protections for our environment. Canada is unique in its vast ecology; I would much rather development be slow than entire species wiped out because some people find it inefficient to protect them. Read more

Please do not plough through our environment killing already endangered species. It is not what we stand for as Canadians. Enough has been lost already. Our ecosystems need to be preserved. This is NOT why you were re-elected.

Animals need to live in a habitat to survive because they have to hunt and forage for food. The immediate den of an animal is like saying a homeless person should survive in a human sized hole in the ground and have no access to food. Read more

This is a terrible idea. The reason the Act is in place is to hold on to an already precarious balance of conservation. There's no reversing damage done to endangered species and the environment. Please, for human decency, for future generations, and for life itself, do not go forward with this.

There is no need to water down our current environmental act. Ontario is a treasure trove of natural habitat. We should hold industry to a high standard. Please reconsider this!

I do not support this proposal at all. If this does go through I will be participating in all protests to protect our environment. This is unacceptable and a deplorable move from our provincial government. Read more

As a physician, father, hunter, angler, and citizen of this beautiful province, I find it deeply worrisome to see the government is even /considering/ weakening the protection of species at risk, for any reason, least of all for economic development. Read more

Do not touch the endangered species act. Do not try to force through development at the expense of environmental protections. Stop destroying our province to line your pockets.
