I wholeheartedly disagree with this “shoot first, ask questions later” approach. We should be INCREASING protections for animals and the environment, not reducing them. The proposed changes make no mention of protecting habitats for migrating animals, for example. Read more

I will not support this government in the future if the endangered species act is repealed. We are equal to, if not less than, our non-human relations, and it is our responsibility to steward and respect them as such. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5. It is an assault on Ontario’s democracy and will have devastating impacts to Ontario’s natural environment and biodiversity. This Bill demonstrates short term thinking, government mismanagement and poor judgement. Read more

This proposal should never have been put forward. These changes to allow "exceptions" are unacceptable, shows high likelihood for corruption and favouritism. This governments recent moves to remove environmental protections is reckless and backwards. Read more

I am a member of Safe Wings Ottawa, a voluntary organization whose mandate is the prevention, research and rescue of birds that collide with windows. Most of the 250 000 birds that collide each year in Ottawa alone (the majority die on impact) are migratory birds, including Species at Risk. Read more

Prioritizing short term economic benefits over habitat and species protection will be disastrous for Ontario. Diminishing protections on endangered species and their habitats will increase extinction of Ontario’s native species and harm ecosystems. Read more

I am writing to strongly oppose Bill 5: the Protect Ontario By Unleashing Our Economy Act. Repealling the Endangered Species Act will remove existing protections of at-risk species and make them vulnerable to extinction. Read more

This proposal is absolutely ridiculous. Ontario's biodiversity is one of the things that makes it great. All this proposal does is completely remove any oversight or accountability for developers to destroy critical habitat for monetary gain. Read more

Do not get rid of protections for wildlife, and most certainly don’t do it without Indigenous nation AND urban peoples’ consultation. Remember whose land you are on - we all need this land to survive. We need to protect it. Do not let Doug Ford move his agenda forward, he’s ruined enough already.

It’s embarrassing that this is even up for debate. It should be understood how detrimental it would be to lessen any laws that protect the environment and threatened species.
