I oppose the introduction of Bill 5. It raises significant concerns about the priorities of the Conservative party. The environment is critical to our survival and the idea to destroy all protections could cause serious and irreversible harm.

This law will degrade Ontario’s environment and wildlife significantly. It will put many species at risk of extinction through fragmenting their habitat and removing accountability at government and corporate levels to protect them. Read more

I am concerned that the changes proposed in Bill 5 will weaken the protections currently in place for at-risk species in Ontario. It seems like the Bill is prioritizing economic development over the survival of species that are already struggling to survive. Read more

I am opposed to the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act as outlined in Bill 5. Quite simply, these changes are not backed by science, and have only one benefactor: developers and the greed that drives them. Read more

I strongly disagree with Bill 5. Humans have become an invasive species, destroying the environment for our own gain. I don’t want my beautiful Ontario home to disgrace the beauty of wildlife and Canadian culture. Read more

The proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act are nothing short of dangerous. Like all other pieces of legislation, the Endangered Species Act was developed over time as a response or a solution to a “problem”. Read more

I am against the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act, as I do not believe that the government should have carte blanche to remove species from the endangered species list for the purposes of habit destruction caused by real estate and unnecessary infrastructure. Read more

The current protections that developers face are inadequate as it is, and passing Bill 5 would only worsen the devastating effects we see towards endangered species and species-at-risk on a daily basis. Read more

The endangered species act should be strengthened to protect species at risk, not watered down like this bill suggests! Many of these species are important for healthy ecosystems, agricultural systems and are culturally important for Indigenous nations. Read more
