I oppose bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections and the protection of endangered species. I oppose shortcuts for industry. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.

I oppose Bill 5 to scrap the Endangered Species Act. These vulnerable ecosystems need protecting or we will not have anything left. It's development that have put species at risk in the first place. Eliminating the last line of defense would be catastrophic.

Bill 5 is a direct attack on endangered species or species at risk, clean and healthy communities, clean energy and the rights of Indigenous people. This bill would be a disaster on so many levels.

I strongly oppose the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and the creation of the Species Conservation Act (SCA), 2025, as outlined in ERO 025-0380. These changes would significantly weaken protections for species at risk in Ontario and prioritize development over conservation. Read more

These changes are a huge step backwards for environmental policy in Ontario. The proposal to remove provincial mandates for assessment and recovery of at risk species, citing redundancy with federal efforts, simply does not make sense. Read more
