Explicit connection to provincial and national parks, as a deliberate planning strategy, appears to be incomplete or missing from this network proposal. There are no curated connectors to either Bon Echo Provincial Park nor to Bonnechere Provincial Park.

Firstly, I applaud this initiative!

Since the Windsor/Essex and Chatham/Kent counties do not have routes that transect their regions, connecting the shoreline routes as indicated in the current route plan, allow me to suggest the following:

The use of the Airport Parkway as part of the southern route to enter and exit Ottawa seems problematic as this is a busy highway. There is a currently a paved pathway that runs alongside the eastern side of the Airport Parkway - could this not be used for a portion of the route?

This is my first time commenting through EBR, and I find the site very slow, cumbersome and user unfriendly. I know these are large files, but they should not be this difficult to load or download. I tried to download the files so I could explore them in better detail, but it kept crashing.

So pleased to see this province wide cycling plan. Well done good people! We are your average cyclists in our 50s and like to cycle with friends and family. We cycle on paved roads in the county and would really like to see more paved shoulders.

Please consider adding cycling lanes to highways that are undergoing repair/repaving such as Hwy 118 East of Carnarvon. I believe this Highway is scheduled for an upgrade in 2017.

The cycle route proposed from Haddon Road and Hwy. 48, eastward to Lakeridge Rd. (Hwy. 23) at the eastern border of Georgina requires cyclists to ride with Hwy. 48 (MTO) traffic. This is a concern due to volume of traffic, speeds, and lack of a cycling facility to ensure safe bike travel.

I am pleased the provincial government has come up with a proposed provincial cycling network initiative. I would like to pass on two comments in support of your goals of increasing connectivity and accommodating cycling within existing provincial infrastructure.

The "existing off-road route" shown in the City of St. Thomas in the downtown area between Moore Street and Queen Street I believe is based on the former Trans-Canada Trail route, which followed along the old CASO right of way.

This is an excellent initiative but it looks like you missed Prince Edward County and routes through Tay Valley and Lanark Highlands Townships in Lanark County.

1) Add Hwy. 518 and Hwy. 11 or alternative to Hwy. 11 (i.e. Hwy. 592, 520, 124, 522) from Elmsdale / Katrine to North Bay - provides a direct connection on the west side of Algonquin Park with access to the park plus Arrowhead, Mikisew, Restoule, South Bay PPs, and Almaguin Highlands.

I am owner of a an adventure company that offers cycling tours in the Haliburton Highlands. Thank you for your efforts to develop a cycling network. Hwy 118 is an important part of the route for two of my cycling tours.

I am so happy to hear that the Government of Ontario wants to support our cycling infrastructure, especially in Northern Ontario. In order to encourage a healthy lifestyle, the government should be developing cycling-friendly infrastructure to promote safe, active transportation.
