Economics 101 tells us that if there is no price on pollution, companies, governments and individuals will pollute with impunity.

Climate change is one of the most important issues of our time. Beyond the long-term impacts of mass extinction and the degradation of earth's biodiversity, climate change means mass migration to escape inhabitable environments, food insecurity and drought, and climate-related emergencies.

In light of the dire warnings in the latest report on climate change, I ask that you reconsider your hasty plan to kill cap and trade in this province. Until you have a better plan to curb carbon emissions, it would be counterproductive to kill an existing plan.

As an Ontarian deeply concerned about and having witnessed the impacts of climate change, I was disappointed by the lack of consultation about the repeal of the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016. Repealing the Act without public consultation is not acceptable.

I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions.
I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions.
I want legally binding emissions targets at least in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.

I strongly oppose Bill 4. Global warming is the biggest challenge the world has faced. The scientific evidence that CO2 emissions are the cause is now overwhelming.
Bill 4 is irresponsible and a step backwards because:

70% of all pollution is caused by 100 companies world wide. Cap and trade is a check and balance.

There is no issue as important as the environment. It is our future, full stop. Repealing cap and trade is a bad financial decision, but who cares? Saving the environment needs to be the top priority.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this vital matter. I have spend much of the past fifteen years working on issues relating to climate change and sustainability. As I see it, whatever we all do must be good for the environment, society and the economy.
